🎶 Jazz lovers, this one’s for you!
Here’s our wonderful teacher Katie sharing a beautiful interpretation of Portrait of Tracy by Jaco Pastorius. 💛🎸

Katie is a talented multi-instrumentalist and dedicated music educator. Currently completing her Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance with a Minor in Music Education, she’s already built an incredible musical journey — including graduating from Vanier in 2023 with a DCS in Professional Music and Song Techniques.

From Jazz, Pop, Rock, to Latin, Katie has been performing for over 10 years at venues and festivals across Montréal, including Montreal Jazzfest and Place-des-Arts. 🌟

At the CMMS, Katie teaches piano, voice, bass, and guitar, creating a warm and safe space where students can explore, grow, and truly find their sound. Her approach is student-centered, patient, and encouraging, always tailored to each learner’s needs and goals.

We’re so grateful to have her on our team! 💛

Singing during pregnancy and to newborns has been shown to positively influence both brain development and emotional well-being.
It stimulates the fetus’s auditory and language centers, helping build early familiarity with the mother’s voice and sound patterns.
For mothers, singing reduces stress and anxiety, promoting a calmer and healthier pregnancy.
After birth, a parent’s singing soothes the baby, stabilizes emotions, and enhances bonding.
Overall, this simple act supports cognitive growth, emotional security, and connection between mother and child.

Hi🙋🏻‍♀️! There’s nothing more exciting than bringing new books and materials into our lessons! ✨ Each one opens the door to fresh music, stories, and discoveries! 🎶📚

This time around we got:

🎸Rock ’n’ Roll (Baby Biographies) – A fun intro to the history of rock for little ones!
🥁I Spy Music Instruments – An interactive way to explore and recognize instruments.
🎶Every Little Thing – A joyful adaptation of Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds, full of positivity and heart.

We can’t wait to share these with our students and see the music come alive! 💫
