Today, September 30th, our school community came together to recognize Orange Shirt Day, a day to honour residential school survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the importance of reconciliation.

Our students paid tribute to this important day by wearing their orange shirts and participating in meaningful activities throughout the school.

As a school-wide project, each class was invited to help decorate a large Thunderbird mural. Students each created a colourful feather to add to the Thunderbird drawing created by M. Mike, creating a beautiful symbol of unity, strength, and community. 🪶
Some classes also listened to the story Brave Wolfe and the Thunderbird, providing an opportunity for students to learn, reflect, and engage in conversations connected to the day.

Together, we continue to learn, remember, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation. 🧡

🧡 In honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite all students and staff to wear an orange shirt on September 30th.

Wearing orange is a meaningful way to show that Every Child Matters and to recognize the experiences of Indigenous children, families, and communities. Together, we can continue to learn, listen, remember, and work toward reconciliation. 🧡

🏛️ Le musée s’invite en classe !
Pour commencer l’année en histoire, nos élèves de 6e ont créé leur propre exposition 🖼️ temporaire dans le musée de la classe, à partir d’objets personnels. Une façon concrète de découvrir le rôle des artefacts et des objets dans les musées et dans le travail des historiens : que peuvent-ils nous apprendre sur une personne, une famille, une culture ou une époque ?

En groupe, chaque élève a présenté son objet, son histoire et sa signification. 🗣️ Cette activité nous a permis d’entrer tout en douceur dans la communication orale, en partageant une histoire personnelle, en écoutant les autres et en créant des liens entre les différents objets. 🔎 Parce qu’un simple objet peut parfois raconter beaucoup plus qu’on ne l’imagine ! 🤔
