🎶 A Morning of Music at Mount Allison University!

Today, our Grade 6 and 7 learners had the wonderful opportunity to visit Mount Allison University in Sackville to attend the Pops Concert Matinee, hosted by the university's Department of Music!

Our learners enjoyed a lively musical performance featuring the Mount Allison Symphonic Band, Choral Society, Jazz Ensemble, and Chamber Orchestra. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience live music, explore different musical styles, and appreciate the incredible talent of the performers.

At Eastgate, we value learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom, connecting our learners with the arts, culture, and the wider community.

As we prepare for the 2027–2028 school year, we're excited to host a special Kindergarten admissions experience where children can meet our educators, explore our learning environment, and participate in fun, play-based activities.

Our first round of Kindergarten 2027 admissions is just around the corner!

With limited spaces in our Kindergarten class, families interested in joining our Eastgate community are encouraged to apply early to be considered for our first round of admissions.

Meet the Teachers of Eastgate | Mr. Dochi

Mr. Dochi is an educator who is deeply motivated by growth, curiosity, and helping students recognize their own potential.

With a background in chemistry and a master’s degree in the field, his approach to teaching has been shaped not only by his academic experience, but also by an educator who had a lasting impact on him. His graduate advisor challenged him, supported him, and helped him build confidence in his own abilities. That experience continues to influence the way he works with students today.

For Mr. Dochi, education is about much more than mastering content. It is about helping students develop confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a sense of purpose.

What keeps him passionate about education is witnessing growth every day. Seeing a student overcome a challenge, discover a new ability, or begin to believe more strongly in themselves are the moments that make teaching so meaningful to him.

He hopes every student leaves his classroom knowing they are capable of growing, strengthening their skills, expanding their knowledge, and achieving more than they may have imagined.

Some of the most rewarding moments for Mr. Dochi happen when students take their learning beyond the lesson. When they ask questions that deepen the conversation, think outside the box, and demonstrate genuine curiosity, he knows that learning has become something meaningful and lasting.

Meet Ms. Emily | Student Life & Operations Coordinator

As one of the first familiar faces students and families see each day, Ms. Emily plays an important role in helping Eastgate feel welcoming, connected, and cared for.

One of her favourite parts of the day is greeting students each morning and sharing a quick moment of positivity before they head to class. Those small interactions have also given her the opportunity to get to know students and families across our entire school community.

Ms. Emily describes herself as a bit of a “connector” for Eastgate, whether she is helping solve a problem for a teacher, keeping a parent informed, encouraging a student, or helping the many moving pieces of the school day come together.

For her, a welcoming school is found in the small, intentional details: genuine friendliness, clear communication, kindness, enthusiasm, organization, and making sure everyone feels seen and valued.

And no matter how busy the day becomes, there is always one thing guaranteed to make her smile, a student stopping by to tell her about their day, or simply waving hello on their way to class. đź’›

Today, our school community came together at Centennial Park to honour the incredible legacy of Terry Fox. ❤️

After learning about Terry’s courage, determination, and commitment to helping others, our students took those lessons beyond the classroom and participated in our own Terry Fox Run.

It was a meaningful opportunity to move together, reflect on Terry’s story, and celebrate the impact one person can have when they choose to make a difference.

We are so proud of our students for running with purpose and carrying Terry’s message forward.

Today, Eastgate Learning Academy is closed in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Over the past two weeks, our students have engaged in meaningful learning opportunities designed to deepen their understanding of Indigenous histories, experiences, and perspectives.

Across our classrooms, meaningful conversations and thoughtful reflections have taken place as students explored the significance of this day and the ongoing importance of truth and reconciliation in Canada.

Today, we pause as a school community to reflect, remember, and continue learning.
