Did you know that......?

You CAN learn a second or third language as an adult!!!

According to MIT, the ideal time to learn a second language is by the age of 10. However, a recent study published in "Scientific American" states that
"Despite the conventional wisdom, a new study shows picking up the subtleties of grammar in a second language does not fade until well into the teens."

Fortunately, the study also states "This is not to say that we cannot learn a new language if we are over 20. There are numerous examples of people who pick up a language later in life, and our ability to learn new vocabulary appears to remain constant..."

So grab your books and start studying!

Did you know even native speakers sometimes get confused between the verbs TO LAY and TO LIE?

TO LAY means "to place something down flat," while TO LIE means "to be in a flat position on a surface."

An easy way to remember the difference is that TO LAY (with an A in the middle) is to PLACE (also with an A in the middle) whereas TO LIE has the same middles sound as to RECLINE (which is what you do when you put yourself in a somewhat flat position - think that big comfy chair called a RECLINER).
