Hello there! Hope all doing well 🙂

During the week of December 17-21, RHSS will be hosting it's second annual 'Life After RHSS' event. This event is an opportunity for our current gr. 12 students to hear from RHSS alumni as it relates to their journey after graduating high school! Last year, a great group of alumni spoke about their post-secondary pathway and experiences. This was followed by a networking event in the Storm Centre (remember this room???) where gr. 12 students had an opportunity to engage in conversation with the alumni.

Format:
- 1 hour in the caf where the alumni speak about their experiences (approx 5 mins/alumni)
- up to 2.5 hrs in the Storm Centre where you will meet and lend your expertise with RHSS grads who are hopeful of going down the same (or similar) post-secondary pathway as you
-arrival at RHSS in Guidance/Student Services between 9:30-9:45
-caf presentation (10am-11am)
-storm centre (11:15-1:45 or as late as you can attend)

We will provide you with lunch!

Hello all!
RHSS is planning on having an alumni event on Tues., Dec. 19th or Wed., Dec. 20th starting at 9:30am and ending at 2:00pm. We're hopeful that approximately 10-12 students representing a cross-section of post-secondary destinations (college, university, apprenticeships, and the workplace) will be able to assist. Please click on the link below and complete the attached 'Google Form'. We appreciate all who wish to help out but, we have to limit the number to 10-12 students.

Agenda:
Arrive at RHSS for 9:30am
Panel presentation in the RHSS caf from 10am-11:10am (you will give some bak ground about yourself/post-secondary destionation. In advance, you will be provided with questions to help you prepare).
Newtorking in the 'Storm Centre' from 11:15am-1 :45pm (students will be dropping in to ask more questions and to network with you).

Hello all! Thanks to all who have expressed an interest in paricipating in some of the RHSS alumni activities.

Currently, we are planning on having a panel of 'alums' come to RHSS during December (prior to the Winter Break/Christmas Holiday Break). At this time, I am unsure of the exact date and start time, but it will most likely be during the week of December 18th.

The intent is to have several alumni speak about the experience of applying to post-secondary as well as a little bit about what a day in the life of a post-secondary students is like. Aftewards, we are hoping whoever attends remians for a few more hourse to meet with students who have questions.

More to follow soon (towards the end of next week!).

Hello everyone!

First of all, my apologies for this page being quiet. I've been meaning to send out a message to guage the level of interest for some event ideas.

One idea is to have several RHSS alumni attend RHSS, most likely in February, for a 'Life After RHSS' panel event. The idea would be for you, the alumni, to talk briefly to the graudating class about your life immediately after RHSS (i.e. attending college, doing an apprenticeship program, joining the workforce, or going to university). There would also be a time set aside for a question and answer period. The event might consist of different panels (college, apprenticeship, workplace, university) or one panel combining all post-secondary pathways.

Another idea would be to have an event take place after school (between February and June 2018) where RHSS alumni would be assigned to at least one student interested in pursuing the same, or similar path, as the alumni. The idea is to create a networking event as well as provide current students with RHSS alumni to help mentor them,.

These are just two ideas. If you have an idea that you might think would be beneficial, please let me know. I still have to get the approval of the school's Principal.

Hello RHSS Alumni! My name is Carey Mottram and I am a Guidance Counsellor at RHSS. The idea to create a RHSS 'Alumni Page' was to establish and maintain a RHSS alumni community and program. Through this Alumni group, the goal is to connect RHSS alumni with current RHSS students to provide them with mentorship and related opportunities (i.e. volunteerism, job shadowing, post-secondary mentoring, career mentoring). Prior to the end of the 2016-2107 school year (May 2017), I am hoping to plan the group’s first event – a post-secondary panel interactive presentation where current RHSS students will have an opportunity to hear about post-secondary experiences and to connect current students with RHSS graduates pursuing a post-secondary education in a related field.
