(جِبِلَّة) refers to a person’s innate nature, natural disposition, or inborn temperament—the way Allah created someone.

It includes the instincts and tendencies that come naturally to human beings, such as:

* Loving one’s children and family.
* Feeling hunger and thirst.
* Seeking safety.
* Feeling mercy or compassion.
* Having certain personality traits (for example, being naturally calm or naturally bold).

In Islamic discussions, scholars often distinguish between:

* (فطرة): The pure, God-given nature that inclines a person toward recognizing and worshipping Allah and accepting truth.
* Jibillah (جِبِلَّة): The broader natural human disposition and instincts with which a person is created.

For example, when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ chose milk over wine during the Night Journey, Jibrīl عليه السلام said that he had chosen in accordance with the fitrah. This highlights the pure spiritual nature. By contrast, the Prophet ﷺ also experienced ordinary human needs—such as eating, sleeping, and feeling tired—which are part of jibillah, his natural human constitution.

So, in simple terms:

* Fitrah = your God-given spiritual nature.
* Jibillah = your God-given human nature and temperament.

Both are gifts from Allah. Islam does not ask us to eliminate our jibillah; rather, it teaches us to guide and discipline it according to the and the .
