Today we celebrated Eid with a special lantern craft! The children explored fine motor skills by picking up small pieces of tissue paper and foil and placing them onto tape to create their own beautiful lanterns 🏮

This activity supported hand-eye coordination, focus, and creativity — all while celebrating the joy of Eid together 💛

Our littlest learners (just over a year old!) joined in the Festival of Colors celebration today! 🎉
Sensory Bag Painting for Infants:
We created mess-free, sensory-rich art by placing paint and paper inside Ziploc bags, then taping them to their highchairs. The babies loved squishing, patting, and moving the paint around with their hands — creating beautiful, swirling masterpieces! 🎨👶
What our 1-year-olds are discovering:
🖐️ Sensory exploration — feeling the squishy paint move under their fingers
👀 Cause & effect — "When I push, the colors mix and spread!"
🧠 Early fine motor skills — pressing, patting, and grasping
🎯 Focus & attention — tracking the colors as they move

Look at our 2½-year-old artists at work! Today they created beautiful snowy scenes using cotton swabs dipped in white paint to dab around twigs on their paper — making the most magical winter trees! 🌲☃️

🧠 Today's Fine Motor Activity: Screw & Unscrew! 🔧
Today our little ones worked with a special activity box — bottle caps glued to a sturdy surface that they can twist on and off!
Skills they're building NOW:
• ✋ Fine motor control — strengthening those small hand muscles
• 🤏 Hand-eye coordination — aligning and twisting
• 🧩 Problem-solving — figuring out righty-tighty, lefty-loosey!
• 🎯 Focus & concentration — completing the task start to finish
• 🦋 Bilateral coordination — using both hands together

• ✍️ Pre-writing skills — strong fingers & grip = easier pencil control

✂️ Snipping Into Learning! ✂️

Today our Tiny Tot explored cutting paper with child-sized scissors — and what a powerful learning experience this simple activity provides!

Using the ELECT (Early Learning for Every Child Today) framework, we can see how many areas of development are supported:

🖐️ Physical Development
Cutting strengthens fine motor muscles in the hands and fingers, builds hand-eye coordination, and supports bilateral coordination (using both hands together — one to hold the paper and one to cut). These skills are essential foundations for writing, self-help tasks, and independence.

🧠 Cognitive Development
Scissor work involves problem-solving and planning. Children think about where to place the scissors, how hard to squeeze, and what will happen next. They learn cause and effect (“When I squeeze, the paper changes!”) and begin understanding control and precision.

👀 Sensory Development
This activity engages multiple senses — the feel of the paper, the resistance of the scissors, the sound of the snip, and the visual change as paper transforms. Sensory feedback helps refine coordination and builds body awareness.

💬 Communication & Language
During the activity, we talk about actions and process: open, close, snip, cut, hold, turn. Naming these actions builds vocabulary and strengthens understanding of sequencing and direction. Children often proudly share their work, building confidence and expressive language skills.

Providing developmentally appropriate scissors for children over two supports safe independence while encouraging persistence and focus. These small experiences build confidence: “I can do this!”

Learning truly happens in the everyday moments — and we love watching these skills grow one snip at a time. 💛✂️
