Every outdoor sketching session takes children to a different corner of Mississauga—parks, waterfronts, gardens, forests, rivers, and local landmarks—where they slow down, observe, and create artwork inspired by real places. More than just an art class, it's an opportunity to enjoy nature, build observation skills, and spend a creative Sunday afternoon outdoors with family and friends.

Our Streetsville Memorial Park outdoor sketching day was full of river views, tree shade, curious ducks, finished paintings, and one very welcome ice cream truck. 🌿🎨

Children spent the afternoon observing the Credit River, rocks, shoreline, reflections, trees, and all the small details around them. Some stayed focused on the landscape, while others explored the riverbank and added their own colours, memories, and imagination to their paintings.

This was our fifth outdoor sketching session of the season, and each location has created a completely different story. From gardens and ponds to church architecture, lakeside views, and now the river in Streetsville, the children are slowly discovering Mississauga through drawing.

Five sessions complete — and many more places still waiting to be painted.

Summer Art Camp in Mississauga

A small-group summer experience with outdoor sketching, studio art, hands-on projects, games, and new friends.

Recommended for ages 7+. Best suited for children who already enjoy drawing, painting, and making things.

Our Richard’s Memorial Park outdoor sketching day was full of summer light, lake breeze, quiet focus, and beautiful student artwork. 🌿🎨

Children spent the afternoon drawing by the water, observing the lake, shoreline, trees, sky, shadows, and natural shapes around them. Even though we adjusted our exact sketching spot on-site to make the session more comfortable and suitable for children, the day turned out beautifully.

Each student followed a step-by-step sketching guide, but their final paintings all became different. Some focused on the lake and sky, some followed the shoreline and trees, and some added their own colours, memories, and imagination.

This session also felt like another meaningful step in our 2026 Outdoor Sketching Program. More families are joining us, more children are becoming familiar with painting outdoors, and each location gives them a new way to observe Mississauga through art.

A week filled with art, creativity, outdoor adventures, and so many wonderful summer memories. ☀️🎨

During our YUAN Art Studio Summer Camp, students explored painting, character design, T-shirts, buttons, bookmarks, and many other creative projects. They experimented with different materials, shared ideas, made new friends, and created artwork that reflected their own personalities.

One of the highlights of the week was our outdoor sketching trip. The children stepped outside the studio, observed nature closely, and transformed what they saw into their own drawings and paintings.

Thank you to every family who joined us and trusted us with this special week. We loved watching the children create, explore, laugh, and grow together.

Our St Hilary’s Church outdoor sketching day was a warm and meaningful afternoon in a beautiful local garden space. 🌿🎨

Children spent the afternoon drawing outdoors, observing the church building, roof shapes, windows, stone walls, trees, garden paths, native plants, and all the quiet details around them.

This session felt different from our previous park sketching days. Instead of focusing only on nature, students had the chance to explore both garden and building sketching — turning a real community space into their own artwork.

Each student followed a step-by-step sketching guide, but their final paintings all became different. Some focused on the church structure, some on the trees and garden, and some added their own colours, memories, and imagination.

Special thanks to St Hilary’s Anglican Church for kindly welcoming our students to paint in their gardens. We’re grateful to see more local community spaces and families becoming part of our outdoor sketching journey.

Our Kariya Park outdoor sketching day was full of quiet focus, small surprises, and beautiful student artwork. 🌿🎨

Children spent the afternoon drawing beside the pond, observing the Japanese garden, bridges, trees, reflections, ducks, turtles, and all the little details around them.

Each student followed a step-by-step sketching guide, but their final artworks all looked different — some focused on the water, some on the pavilion, some on colours, shapes, and their own imagination.

We were also happy to welcome new friends to YUAN Art Studio, and we were touched by the kind words from families and people passing by during the session.

Our first outdoor sketching session of the season began under the trees at Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens 🌿🎨

Children spent a calm afternoon drawing outdoors, observing garden paths, trees, flowers, light, and small details around them. Each child created their own painting from what they saw, remembered, and imagined.

It was quiet, sunny, a little messy, and very real — the kind of art experience that does not always happen inside a classroom.

We’ll continue our Outdoor Sketching Program with a new location each week.
