After a successful collaboration on the project Hospital Beds For Bangladesh, BSA UTM has once again joined the movement that is uniting Bangladesh expatriates, citizens and grass roots organizations in the fight against COVID-19.
and BSA UTM aim to work together to inspire new projects and facilitate ongoing efforts at this crucial time. In July, BSA UTM and had previously brought together six BSAs to create the first ever Canadian Alliance of Bangladeshi Student Associations to promote social innovation and provide relief in Bangladesh. This communal kindness, patience and continued support, ensured 50+ beds were procured and delivered to treatment facilities across the country.
With 10 BSAs united, we encourage all our members to join our efforts by supporting this second collaboration with the movement- The O2 Fund. It’s predecessor, “Oxygen for Life” had received overwhelming support from expatriates, organizations, friends and family. As a result, 120+ cylinder units were distributed across 34 health centres in over 17 districts across the country. However, since its inception, the number of covid cases have increased exponentially. The number of coronavirus patients now needing oxygen is pushing hospital infrastructure across the country beyond its capacity, and the need for oxygen cylinders is now more urgent than ever before. The O2 Fund aims to continue to address the shortage of oxygen supply across high traffic urban hospitals and rural healthcare establishments.
Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, we hope the spirit and solidarity of student communities will remain unwavering and make this pursuit a successful one. For more information and to donate, please visit the link below. Stay connected to our socials to find out more.

With only 4 beds per 10000 people (world bank) and less than 1300 intensive care beds (DGHS ) for a population of 162 million, a desperate crisis looms over our healthcare system.
