One of my favorites to sit down and play — Arabesque by Claude Debussy. No sheet this time, just the keys and a little breathing room.

I’m always collecting ideas for lessons… and for guided practice between them.

Practice tip: set a timer and start. Five honest minutes on the first phrase beats waiting for the “perfect” session.

Also new in the studio: a fun arrangement for my higher-level students (Angry Birds Theme). Music class should be both — joyful and thorough. Technique and joy belong in the same lesson.

What’s a piece that makes practice feel less like homework for you? Drop it below 👇

Curious about guided practice between lessons? Something exciting is brewing in the studio. Stay tuned…

As a CS grad from UW, I leveraged my programming skills and music background to create an online music course app. Tools like Lovable and ChatGPT streamlined the process. I also gave our studio's website a makeover and enlisted an intern for UI/UX and QA support. The app's almost ready, and I'm eager to unveil it.
