Dear SHS Community!

Throughout the month of February, our school community will come together in support of Black History Month through Leadership Club events and activities that honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities. During Black History Month, Sherwood Heights will celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities who have done so much to make Canada a culturally diverse, compassionate, and prosperous country.

The 2024 theme for Black History Month is, “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build.” This theme represents an opportunity to engage in open dialogue and a commitment to learning more about the stories that Black communities in Canada have to tell about their histories, successes, sacrifices and triumphs. At Sherwood Heights, we aspire to embrace new opportunities for the future.

There are many organizations and educational resources devoted to the promotion and awareness of Black Canadian history. The Leadership Club would like to share the following site with our school community to learn more. We look forward to sharing additional information with you throughout a very special month of February.

Congratulations to our Secondary School DECA club members who participated in the annual DECA regional competition at the Ted Rogers School of Management at TMU this past weekend. The students diligently and confidently prepared professional solutions to business case challenges related to management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and other business disciplines, and then presented their solutions to qualified business executives. It was an exciting, engaging, and fulfilling experience for all!

Mrs. McKinney and Ms. Derkash want to announce some exciting news to Sherwood Heights...
On Wednesday, our cross-country athletes proudly represented our school as we accomplished something we never had before.

Congratulations to our U14 Boys who brought home our first-ever division CHAMPIONSHIP title. 🏆
Our runners had the highest score as an overall team, resulting in bringing home the championship plaque!

Not only did we accomplish a title, but we also had many successful runners who have placed high in their divisions as well. Go Sharks!
