I'm SO excited about this!

For those of you who know me, you know that I am passionate about children and play. I could talk for hours about it!

While much of my work is with educators and organizations, I also work with parents - to help them understand the value of play, support their child through play, and to create spaces that best provide for child-led play and discovery.

And - I’m a mom.

I’ve seen the impact that quality outdoor play can have on children - both in my work and as a parent.

We all want what’s best for children, but sometimes it’s hard to wade through all the advice, societal pressure, and guilt surrounding us and trust ourselves.

That’s why I’m excited to be a part of the Make Space for Moms Summit. I'll be talking about the why and the how of outdoor play - so that more adults will recognize the value of play and trust in themselves to advocate for and support it. So that every child has the opportunity to THRIVE.

Even if you’re not a mom, I guarantee you will get something out of this talk. And if you are a mom - well this is the event for you! There are over 25 speakers all focused on moms.

🤸‍♂️Let’s give children the childhood they deserve!

Would you like to reduce the amount of time your family spends on screens? Now is a great time to make changes.💫

Screen Free Week is here: May 2-8

Swipe for tips on reducing screen time and increasing PLAY time from Playroom Consultant, Connie Huson, and Outdoor Play Specialist, Jane Pilskalnietis.

How much screen time is too much?
The Canadian Paediatric Society recommends:
For children under two years old screen time is not recommended. (i.e., zero hours)
For children two to five years old limit screen time to less than one hour a day.
For children older than five limit screen time to less than two hours a day.

The pandemic created a need for more screen time than ever and it was impossible for families to follow the above recommendations.

With return to in-school learning and some familiar routines, it may be a great time for a reset.

Feel empowered to offer all the benefits of play and time outdoors for the health and well-being of your child, yourself, and your family! 🎉

Take the Screen Free Week pledge and get additional information and resources at www.screenfree.org

Follow Connie for tips on supporting your child's learning and creativity through play.

Follow Jane at WildBright Play for ideas and inspiration on outdoor play and nature connection.
