How Do Figure Skaters Train⁉️
A year ago I stepped out of my comfort zone. Taking on the task of directing and growing . I knew that half of the job was going to be working with the wonderful young athlete .
🗣️People asked "how are you going to to train figure skaters?"
My answer is "I'm not. I'm going to train athletes, who happen to figure skate." 🤯
That's the beauty of the Athlete Centered approach to athlete development. It starts with the athlete as an individual and considers a number of factors starting with wellness and positive training relationship, global athletic competency, basic strength discrepencies, goals and objectives and then narrowing to specific demands all while considering athlete training schedule, competitive/peaking schedule and being cognisent of overall training load/recovery.
It is NOT a generic program that is "this is my figure skating program" and everyone does the same thing, because they are figure skaters!
Over the course of this past year I have continued to tweak and reflect, ask for feedback and continue to refine my approach. Very proud of the young ladies and men who have bought into the process and have gotten stronger and more explosive. Let's be very clear, I have minimal impact on their on-ice performance. The amount of time and dedication to the technical tactical side of things is beyond anything I have ever experienced and the time and dedication by and and the other coaches is truly phenomenal!
Very fortunate for this experience and excited for what the next year holds!

So Excited and Proud to get to watch long time Prototype Kevin Bahl compete for 🇨🇦 in the World Junior Championships starting Boxing day in 🇨🇿!
For many hockey players in Canada this is the ultimate honour.. Good Luck KBahl and the rest of Team Canada!
