Happy Canada Day to All - On this day, we pray for those indigenous people who suffered in the process of the birth of Canada. It did not have to be this way but money, power and land greed resulted in abuse of the true land owners. While this generation is not responsible, we have to recognize the unfair treatment, acknowledge it and repair the relationship.

BLINDSPOT
Serious, sometimes fatal accidents happen due to driver failure to check blind spots when turning or changing lanes.

No matter how well you adjust your mirrors, there is an area around your car which you cannot see another vehicle, children or other obstacles that are in front of you, besides you and behind you when backing up.

Blind spot related accidents can be avoided by taking a few seconds to do an Over The Shoulder Check – Blindspot Check.

Tips to Avoid Blind Spot Collisions
· Adjust your side and rearview mirrors to the proper position. Side mirrors should be adjusted in a way where a small part of the end of the car is visible. Rearview mirror should frame the car’s rear window.
· Check all mirrors for cars AND look over your shoulder for oncoming traffic prior to changing lanes or backing up. Make sure to use your signal to notify other drivers if you are changing lanes.
· Be conscious of how your line of vision changes as you travel along intersections and crosswalks. Be aware of your surroundings and be prepared for situations, such as pedestrians jaywalking.
· Avoid driving in another car’s blind spot. They may not be able to see you and if they change lanes in front of you, it could result in an accident.

Ken had his Road Test appointment cancelled a couple of times due to COVID. Finally, yesterday he did his G Road test and passed on his first attempt taking advantage of the exemption given to newcomers. Congratulations to Ken. All the best to Ken and his family.
You can also be like him with proper training.
