This was a post I saw in one of my local Facebook groups - sharing it here.

I recently had driving lessons here in town, and one thing he emphasized really stuck with me: driving is a privilege. It can be taken away if we make choices that are unsafe or illegal.

Most traffic accidents and fatalities happen at intersections, and often it’s because someone is in too much of a hurry to notice what’s happening - like a crossing pedestrian.

This morning, while crossing the intersection on Ontario St-Pretty River Pkwy, I had a reminder of why patience matters so much. I work with seniors and children with behavioural needs, and many families in our community rely on me. My senior parents on the other side of the world also depend on my income. A single moment of impatience from a driver could have ended all of that; not just for me, but for those who count on me.

It only takes a second to stop for a pedestrian, but that second could mean everything to someone else’s family. Let’s all look out for one another and remember that empathy and patience go further than we think.

If you ever want a refresher on safe driving, I highly recommend Young Drivers. They have a great way of showing why slowing down can be the best decision you ever make.

Intention of this post: Everyone likely sees such things on a day to day basis. See one, teach one. Every individual can do their part. Thanks. 😊
