The Branches Experiential Learning Community

Our Spring programs for children in grades 3 - 8 are full of life. We can hardly wait to explore the wonders of creation together as we experience wild foraging in the forest, animal husbandry and new life, the miracle of gardening and seed growth, wetland development and exploration, pond study, local flora and fauna study, nature crafting & building, and friendship and community building.

Programs are outdoors, hands on, and lead by a licensed and experienced Ontario Qualified Teacher, a practicing Veterinarian, and volunteer.

At the Branches we aim to develop the unique gifts in each child within a safe, trusting, and educationally enriching community. Our spring programs include pond and woodlot experiential learning, nature crafting, survival skills, farm animal husbandry, vegetable gardening, cooking with wild edibles, journalling and reflection, teambuilding activities and much more. We accept students from all learning approaches (public and private schools, homeschooling, unschooling, and alternative). Join us for this old-fashioned hands-on experience, where you will participate in each step of the Maple Syrup making process from tapping a tree, to hauling wood for the evaporator, and everything in between, through to bottling syrup.
This is a family oriented program, limited to 25 participants per date.

WE CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU THIS FALL

Many have asked what happens at The Branches over the summer.

For us this is primarily a season to Rest and Reconnect.
It is also a time to Reflect on what is going well with our programs and what we may Re-design moving forward.
Finally, it is an opportunity to work on that never ending list of maintenance and Repair projects.

We know many are curious about the fall. We plan to change things up just a little bit with some new ideas and design.

2 school-age programs coming out by the end of July. Our school-age day programs start in early September and will be for children aged 7 (born 2015) to 13.

As another season at The Branches comes to a close, I'm taking a moment to reflect.

There's so much more in these photos than what the eye can see.

There is courage, creativity, wonder, love, strength, perseverance, kindness, acceptance, problem solving, value, and much more.

And when I look at these young hearts and minds, I am deeply certain that the truths about their identity that they desperately long to KNOW are these very ones.

That they are: loved, accepted, invited in, made to do good, wonder-filled, brave, strong, creative, special, valuable, fully known, cared for, chosen, precious, never alone, and purposeful.

Just like All Of Us

That is why, as we spend time exploring, observing, creating, working together, and adventuring here at Tge Branches, discovering the truth about our core identity as created human beings remains paramount.

We need to know that we are uniquely designed with a purpose, and everything in nature shouts this truth. How, for example, the bee was created for the flower, and the flower for the bee, or the squirrel for the tree and the tree for the squirrel, and so many other examples.

Nature is a tremendous teacher of the truth about our identity, and points us to the One who created it all.

And as I reflect, I feel deeply grateful for the privilege of continually re-learning this together with this incredible group of young minds.

Enjoy your summer rest, and remember who you are: LOVED, BRAVE, and MADE TO DO GOOD.
