Sorry, but we're #1 π¨π¦π₯ππ. Canadians are known to be world leaders in sports, science, business, the arts and everything in between, but Canada itself is also a world-record holder!
Here are a few things that Canada is #1 in across the world that might surprise you.
1. The Trans Canada Highway is the longest highway in the world at 7,604kms and Toronto's Yonge Street is the longest street at more than 50kms long.
2. Wasaga Beach in Ontario is the longest freshwater beach in the world at 14kms.
3. Winnipeg, Manitoba has the longest skating rink in the world. Well, it's more of a skating "trail." When the Assiniboine and Red rivers freeze, skaters enjoy a frozen path of more than 8.5kms.
4. We have the world's longest coastline at 243,977kms.
5. Victoria Island in Canadian Arctic Archipelago is the world's largest island, within an island, within an island.
6. The border between Canada and the United States in the largest demilitarized border in the world.
7. The rocks in the Canadian Shield are considered to be the oldest rocks on Earth's surface at 4.28 billion years old. That age means they were created approximately 300 million years after our planet formed!
8. Toronto is the world's most multicultural city. Of the roughly 3 million residents, approximately half were born outside of Canada and/or are members of a visible minority.
9. Canada is the world's largest producer of Uranium and the rare element, Cesium.
10. The legendary dive destination β the Nakwakto Rapids β in Port Hardy, British Columbia has the world's strongest current with speeds up to 30 km/h.
