Young Colts Give Back to Their Community
Merlin Area Public School is proud to recognize two students, Annabelle Farrish and Ava Simpson, who recently demonstrated outstanding community spirit and generosity.
Over the weekend, Annabelle and Ava organized and operated a lemonade stand, raising an impressive $112.17. On June 9, 2026, they proudly presented their donation to Principal Harmony Queen Munroe, choosing to contribute the entire amount to the school’s playground fundraising campaign.
The friends shared that giving back to their community was important to them. They felt that supporting a new playground was a meaningful way to make a lasting impact, knowing that the equipment would be enjoyed by current students, future Colts, and many members of the broader Merlin community for years to come.
“Annabelle and Ava have shown what it means to be caring and engaged members of their community,” said Principal Harmony Queen Munroe. “Their generosity, initiative, and thoughtfulness are inspiring. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and grateful for their contribution toward our playground project.”
The girls explained that donating to their school felt like the perfect way to give back to a place that has given them so much. By supporting the playground fundraiser, they hope to help create opportunities for students to learn, play, and build memories for years to come.
Annabelle and Ava have also expressed plans to continue holding lemonade stands throughout the summer, with the goal of making additional donations to support community initiatives and causes benefiting local children and families.
Their generosity serves as a wonderful reminder that leadership and community spirit have no age limit. Merlin Area Public School extends its sincere thanks to Annabelle and Ava, their family, and everyone who supported their lemonade stand.
Merlin truly is a community that cares for one another.
