⚠️ We Need Board Members — It’s That Simple

Melfort Daycare Co-operative cannot effectively operate without a Board of Directors.

We are currently looking for committed, caring people to help keep this important service running for local families.

Our updated enrolment policy now includes eligibility for Tier 1 priority placement for Board members, and our bylaws have been changed so that community members can now serve on the Board — even without a child currently attending MDC.

Being on the board means:
• Attending meetings
• Helping guide decisions
• Supporting the daycare’s future
• Making a real difference in Melfort

If you’ve ever said child care matters — now is the time to help protect it. 💛

🌿 Help Us Build Our Outdoor Mud Kitchen! 🌿

We, the staff, have been busy brainstorming ways to enhance both of our outdoor play yards, and one exciting project we’ve decided on is creating a mud kitchen!

A mud kitchen encourages creativity, imagination, sensory exploration, and cooperative play. Best of all, it can be enjoyed year-round—through both summer and winter adventures.

We already have a few supplies, but we’re hoping our wonderful families and community members might be able to help us gather some additional items. Before donating, please take a quick look around your home to see if you have anything you no longer use that could find a new life in our play space.

We are looking for items such as:

• Rolling pins (wood or plastic)
• Tin cups
• Ice cream scoops
• Tupperware pitchers
• Large spoons (wood or metal)
• Soup ladles
• Potato mashers
• Small frying pans and pots
• Large metal bowls
• Spades
• Outdoor carpets or mats
• Waterproof tents
• Large yard umbrellas
• Clothesline
• Toy sunglasses
• Picnic tables and chairs
• Cookie sheets and muffin tins
• Ice cream pails
• Corn brooms
• Water jugs with spouts
• Boombox/music player
• Battery-operated string lights

Melfort Daycare Co-operative cannot operate without a Board of Directors. Quite simply — without a functioning board, there is no daycare.

We know life is busy, but this is one of the most meaningful ways you can support child care in our community.

Our updated bylaws now allow community members to join the Board, even if you do not currently have a child enrolled at the daycare. Board members are also eligible for Tier 1 priority placement under our updated enrolment policy.
