Reynolds Central School

Reynolds Track and Field day was a wonderful celebration of team spirit! Classes prepped for weeks in Phys Ed class to run, jump, and throw to their personal best. All year we work on “Reynolds Way every day” and witnessing the students cheer for and celebrate each other was a unique opportunity to live that mantra.

Deep gratitude to all those who came to cheer on their favorite athlete(s), to our SCC for prepping the hot lunch and running the canteen, and to Mrs. Hufnagel and her right hand - Mrs. Dickie who spend countless hours organizing the day. We also want to thank our parent group volunteers, Mr. Martin and the MUCC grade 9s who ran the events, our EAs who handled the controlled chaos with professionalism, and our teachers who coached their groups with enthusiasm.

When you come tomorrow to cheer on your favourite athlete at Track and Field, please take a minute to check out our Lost and Found.

The Lost and Found is full today,
With hoodies that have gone astray.
Mitts and gloves are piled up high,
Each day their owner walks on by.

Water bottles line the shelf,
If they could only walk themself!
It’s hats and boots and so much more,
Come claim your treasures by Reynolds’ door.

Thank you Sauders' Home Hardware! Our students loved touring your Greenhouse and putting your beautiful donation of plants on proud display at our front entrace.

Many of us love technology and appreciate the benefits it offers. But as with anything in life, you can have “too much of a good thing.”

We are hearing increasingly from experts that screen time needs to be monitored and purposeful, especially for our vulnerable youth. Our Reynolds community is listening.

Whatever happened to the good old fashioned art of conversation? Of sitting in boredom? Of creating play? Reynolds aims to find out.

Thanks to our SCC, we now have two “Busy Bins” available to grade 4-6 teachers and their students. It is our hope that engagement with the materials in these bins will encourage creativity, learning, positive social interaction, and play.

With Summer just around the corner, how much time do you want your child in front of a screen? Start thinking about creating your own Busy Bin for home! There are lots of great materials you can source locally. See the photos below for an idea of what can be included.

In Grade 1 Science, we have been learning about the environments that living things need to survive. We observed a bird's nest with eggs inside and wondered how the nest protects both the eggs and the bird. We also discussed how birds build their nests and the materials they use.
Students then became "nest builders"! Working in small groups, they collected materials and designed their own nests that would be suitable for a bird. Students thought carefully about how to make their nests strong, safe, and comfortable. Through this hands-on activity, students demonstrated their understanding of the needs of living things and how environments can provide shelter and protection.
