From canine studies to marine life 🦮➡️🐠

MHC alumna Megan Jingling's career journey is a reminder that education is about more than preparing for one job.

The communication, training, and public engagement skills she developed in MHC's Service Dog & Canine Studies Management program helped lead her to a career educating visitors about marine animals at West Edmonton Mall’s Marine Life attraction.

As Canada's only post-secondary institution offering a diploma of this kind, MHC continues to prepare students for a wide range of animal-related careers.

Student Voices from the C4i Research & Innovation Showcase 🔬

The Centre for Innovation (C4i) Summer Research Showcase highlighted the outstanding work of Medicine Hat College students as they presented the results of their research projects and shared the impact of their experiential learning opportunities.

Working alongside faculty and industry partners, students explored innovative solutions to real-world challenges through applied research across a diverse range of disciplines. Projects included marketing research, virtual reality design, invasive Prussian carp populations, molecular investigations, kinematic research, drone scanning technology, and the evaluation of human emotions.

Beyond the research itself, students reflected on how these experiences helped them develop valuable skills, build professional connections, explore future career opportunities, and gain a deeper understanding of their interests and goals.

📢 Campus Closure Reminder: College Day!

We're getting excited to welcome students back for the Fall semester!

On August 19, Medicine Hat College and the Medicine Hat College Brooks Campus will be closed as faculty and staff come together for our annual College Day. It's a day of professional development, collaboration, and preparation as we gear up for another amazing year of learning and student success.

Our campuses and facilities will be closed to the public during this time so all employees can take part.

We can't wait to have our halls buzzing with energy again and to welcome students back for the start of a fantastic semester!

Campuses will reopen on August 20.

A huge shout-out to the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games Medicine Hat 2026 for allowing us to be part of such a memorable event.

We were proud to host the powerlifting competition, award ceremonies, High Five Fest, and the Healthy Athletes Program, while welcoming athletes, coaches, volunteers, and staff to our campus.

Thank you to our amazing staff, faculty, and students who stepped up to volunteer and help make the experience so special.

To all the competitors and participants: your hard work, perseverance, and positive spirit inspired us all.

We'll be welcoming athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and visitors from across Canada to campus for an exciting week of competition and community.

With more than 750 additional guests expected on campus each day, parking may fill earlier than usual, food services will be busier, and common areas will see increased activity.
