🥋 A little Sensei appreciation post!

If you’ve spent any amount of time at Karate-Do Academy, you know just how much Sensei Gord brings to our dojo.

Years of knowledge, countless hours on the floor, plenty of patience 😅 and a genuine commitment to helping every student become better…not just at Karate, but as people.

The impact of a great Sensei goes far beyond kicks, punches, kata and belts. It’s in the confidence they help build, the lessons students carry with them, and the community they create along the way.

We’re incredibly lucky to have Sensei Gord as the leader of our Karate-Do family.

For 34 years, Karate-Do Academy has been teaching martial arts in our community. And while we’re proud of the karate skills our students develop, what happens beyond the kicks and punches matters even more.

For years we've absorbed the GST into our class fees. Unfortunately, rising costs have made it necessary for us to finally add GST to our registration fees this year. Rather than increasing fees even further, we've chosen to keep our base prices as affordable as possible and simply apply the tax separately.

🥋 ADVANCED TEAM TRAINING 🥋

Looking for a little extra time on the dojo floor?

Our Advanced Team Training sessions are open to students of ALL belt levels who want to dive deeper into their karate training. These sessions give us the opportunity to spend more time on specific skills, details, applications, and concepts that we don’t always have enough time to explore as deeply during regular classes.

📅 Friday, June 12
⏰ 6:00–7:30 PM
💵 $10 cash per student
✅ No pre-registration required
🚪 Arrive 5–10 minutes early

This session will feature:

👊 Sensei Colin
• Defending and attacking on an angle
• Catching and sweeping kick defenses

🥋 Sensei Rhonda
• Expanding on our jumping kata work from last session:
Heian Godan, Empi, Meikyo & Unsu
• Kata timing changes, pace, pauses, combining techniques, and overall performance

Whether you’re preparing for gradings, tournaments, or simply want to improve your karate, these sessions are a great way to get extra reps, ask questions, and continue growing your skills.
