Our educators have been on the front line for a year working in a very different climate. Adapting their practice to ensure the continuity of safe and healthy environments, while educating our youngest learners in a most challenging and stressful time. It became clear that we needed to do more to respect and fight for our early childhood educators and childcare. We understand that that the past year only highlighted this need. Childcare and childcare workers are essential for economic stimulation, preparing and educating our future community leaders yet are not treated as such. The evidence suggests that the early years are the most critical in a child’s development. The board decided last night that more needs to be done to advocate for childcare and childcare workers – and we hope that you will help!
To start advocating for the sector – we are sharing a link to an open letter that we hope you will sign, send and share. This will take you to the Ontario Coalition for Better Childcare’s letter to “Protect and Respect Early Childhood Education and Care”. It’s simple – provide your name, email and postal code – hit submit and this letter will be shared with Premier Ford, Minister Lecce, and your local MPP.
Thank you in advance for supporting and advocating to Protect and Respect Early Childhood Education and care!
