Day two in Newfoundland for Mme. Dwyer's class was full of walking up hill, down hill and up hill a few more times. In St. John's you really can walk up hill both ways! They got to meet the RNC mounted unit. Castle was a gentle giant standing at over 17 hands. They toured the Colonial Building, the Rooms, and had a great time exploring the downtown area. Another beautiful day for weather, but that might all change tomorrow... Stay tuned!

The first day in Newfoundland has come to an end for Mme. Dwyer's grade 8 class. They had a stunning introduction to the province and couldn't have asked for a better travel day. After flying in and getting settled, their Cowan Heights Elementary friends took them to Signal Hill and Cape Spear.

Families are encouraged to act now as elementary school offices close for the summer after Friday, July 3. While families will still be able to register after this date, any questions and follow-up verification steps will need to wait until offices reopen in late August.

Today, our Grade 11 Biology students took their learning beyond the textbook as they explored the anatomy of a rat through dissection. This valuable experience gave students the opportunity to see first hand how different body systems work together to support life and function.

By examining structures and organs up close, students gained a deeper understanding of the similarities shared among mammals—including ourselves—and saw just how interconnected and complex living organisms truly are.

Experiences like these help bring science to life and inspire curiosity about the world around us. Great work, Grade 11 Biology Students! 🫀🫁🧠

A wonderful day at the Grey Roots Museum and Farm was had by the Secondary Learning Centre students this week.

Students enjoyed a tour of the museum, historical buildings and artifacts, fun interaction exhibits and time spent with the farm animals, learning about the amazing program run by Mr. Williams and his hard working and knowledgeable students.

We learned about sheep, got to hold a couple of very cute babies, learned about ducks, geese, turkeys and pigs. There is so much to do and learn on a farm.

Thank you to Mr. Williams and Laura Arnold and her team at the Grey Roots Museum for providing such an educational and enjoyable day for our students.

Our 2026 Relay for Life event on Thursday was incredible. We raised over $33,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. Thank you to Mrs. Sheridan, Mrs. McKillop, our student leaders, and everyone who contributed to the event's success.
