In preparation for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our students and staff spent time learning through land-based experiences and exploring Indigenous knowledge and teachings.
As Justice Murray Sinclair reminds us, “Education got us into this mess and education will get us out of it.”
We set up our tipi frame, practiced fire-starting, made bannock, enjoyed wild mint tea and wild meat, learned about elk hide preparation, and explored the plants and medicines that grow around us.
Learning by doing, connecting with the land, and creating meaningful experiences together. 🧡
