Through the generous support of our community we are getting closer to making our archery program a reality.
During Thursday's Spring Concert Margaret Drake and Tara Emberly of MARTA made a generous donation of $500.
From donations and the recent lottery draw, we have raised $4300.
This will enable the school to purchase a dozen bows and 5 dz arrows.
To get the program operational we will need to raise funds to purchase an arrow curtain, targets and a bow rack these items will cost approximately $4000.....we are half way there 😀

We had a big surprise, Scott Smith, President of the Northwest Rod and Gun Club came to the school to present a $1500 donation towards the startup of our archery program.
A big thank to the Club members for their generosity.

Aiming for Excellence: Bringing NASP to Sacred Heart Academy

Dear Sacred Heart Academy Community,

We are thrilled to share our vision for expanding our extracurricular opportunities through the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). This program is more than just a sports initiative; it is a proven platform for developing character, discipline, and focus in our students.

Why Archery?
Archery is a unique sport where the primary competition is with oneself. By bringing NASP to our school, we are offering students a chance to build skills that serve them well beyond the range:

Focus and Patience: Success in archery requires mental clarity and the ability to slow down—skills that translate directly to academic success.

Inclusivity: Archery is a "level playing field" sport. It is accessible to students of all genders, sizes, and athletic abilities, fostering a true sense of belonging.

Discipline and Safety: NASP maintains a rigorous safety protocol that teaches students the importance of following procedures and respecting their equipment and peers.

The following video highlights the skills taught to students:

An Investment in Quality

We recognize that the upfront cost of archery equipment is significant. However, this is a deliberate choice to ensure our students train with professional-grade gear. High-quality equipment ensures safety, longevity, and—most importantly—allows Sacred Heart Academy to participate in NASP-sanctioned tournaments.
This isn't just a purchase; it’s an investment in a program that will benefit our youth for years to come, providing them with a lifelong hobby and the pride of representing our school in provincial and national competitions.
There is no cost for any of students from Grades 4-7 to available of this program.

What is the Equipment that is Needed?

12 Original Genesis Bows (10 right hand & 2 left hand)
10 dozen Easton 1820 Genesis Arrows
5 targets (32" round foam Rinehart x 2, Feradyne 34″ Block Target x 3)
1 Arrow Curtain
1 Bow Rack
1 Repair Kit

Mr. Snook will be the coach, he is a certified archery instructor with NASP and is an avid archer in his free time.

How You Can Help

To make this program a reality, we are currently running a fundraiser. Your support will go directly toward the specialized equipment needed to get our students on the line.

Deadline: Tickets are available until May 14th.
In-Person: Tickets can be purchased directly at the school office or at NAPA Autoparts in Marystown.
Online: For your convenience, you can purchase tickets online via the link below:
