Blackbelt World Championships Day 2 (Sunday June 7th) Photos:
MTA sent 17 Recreational Blackbelts & 5 High performance sparring athletes. This was another long day of over 850+ competitors including over 250 High Performance Sparring Athletes from all over the country and even the US. This is probably the highest level competition that Ontario has to offer. Medals are far from guaranteed when there are over 20 competitors in 1 division but that is what makes it such a valuable experience for the athletes. Win or lose, there is a lot to be gained and learned from.

It was great to see some of the countries best athletes do battle and even get to compete with some of them. As always, our team showed out and won plenty of medals but beyond that we are proud of the courage and determination they showed on such a tough stage. Special shoutout to ALL our high performance sparring athletes for competing hard, keeping the matches close and showing improvements from last time out. Also congratulations to Colette, who won 3 hard fought matches against very tough competition and made it all the way to the finals. She lost against arguably one of the best Female Sparring Athletes in the country in the finals and earned the silver medal in a division of 10 girls. This was a standout performance!

Thank you to our Coaches, Master Emily, Loreena & Aidan. We are lucky to have such a great team! It was a very long 2 days but totally worth it. Our small club from Markham continues to grow and put a stamp on the Taekwondo Map!

Blackbelt World Championships Day 1 (Saturday June 6th) Photos:
MTA sent 7 competitors and 4 referees to participate on Saturday. Master Emily & Ivy both competed with injuries in Poomsae and still won GOLD. Jayden Chau, one of our competition team students won Double GOLD for a second straight tournament! We had some of our recreational colour belt students compete for just their second time and show great improvements! We could not be more proud of everyone. There was over 850+ competitors this day!
Our referees Caylee, Instructor Aidan, Nia & Leanna all did a great job. Leanna was 1 of 2 referees selected out of over 50 referees on the day as "Best Female Referee" What an incredible achievement and thank you to the OTA Referee committee for your acknowledgement. As a Club we have earned many "Best Referee" awards and we are proud as a club to not only produce high level athletes and instructors but also high level referees.
All in all, a great experience. Stay tuned for Day 2 pics and results.

Son's Taekwondo Championships Saturday May 9th In Brampton.
MTA Sent 36 Competitors and came back with 32 GOLD Medals. 20 for Poomsae and 12 for Sparring. We had 7 Athletes earn DOUBLE GOLD performances. We could not be more proud of our students and the hard work they put in every day in training. We had some first time competitors at this event as well and they did amazing!

Next Stop: Blackbelt World Championships in June 👊

Every year we host our Annual Mega Training Sleepover event at MTA. A chance for all our students to hang out with our Instructors and spend the night here. We do lots of taekwondo training, Board Breaking, Pizza Dinner, Hide & Go Seek in the Dark, Arts & Crafts and "Sleeping" We wake up bright and early and have breakfast and go on our way. Giving our parents the "night off"
This is our most anticipated event every year and it takes alot of help to pull off successfully. Our instructors can literally be doing anything else on their weekend but they choose to spend it with us and our students to make sure everyone has a good time. Our staff is truly the best in all of Taekwondo, we are so lucky. A true family here at MTA. Current, future and old instructors all coming to hang out and have a good time.

This was a busy weekend for MTA!
Saturday we sent 5 of our HP Poomsae Athletes to the OTA Poomsae Camp #1. Sunday we sent 4 of our Blackbelt HP Students to the OTA Referee Seminar! We are grateful to the OTA for putting on these seminars for the benefit of Ontario Taekwondo Athletes. These are great pathways to build better students and leaders in the sport. We are proud to have over 30 certified OTA Referees from our club alone. Congrats to Stanford, Nia, Hannah & Megan!
