Sometimes the simplest activities provide the biggest learning opportunities!

This fun Pool Noodle Pom Pom & Pull activity encourages children to strengthen their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and problem-solving abilities as they pull pom poms out of little holes in a pool noodle. It's a simple setup that keeps little hands busy while supporting important developmental skills through play. Older children can try to push the pom poms back in!

A big thank you to our wonderful Provider Keri from our Orillia agency for sharing this engaging activity with us. We love seeing the creative ways our Providers make learning fun every day!

Believe it or not, summer is the perfect time to start preparing your child for school!

School readiness isn't about worksheets or academic drills. It's about building confidence, independence, social skills, and routines that help children feel comfortable and successful in a classroom environment.

Remember, every child develops at their own pace. Focus on progress, celebrate small wins, and enjoy the journey together.

As part of our Together Wee Can Program – Pillars of Programming, our amazing Provider Ramapraba from our Kitchener agency developed this creative and educational "Let's Milk a Cow" activity!

This hands-on experience introduces children to dairy farming and helps them understand where some of their food comes from. As children practice "milking" the cow, they strengthen their fine motor skills, develop hand-eye coordination, and learn about the important role dairy farmers play in providing nutritious foods that support healthy growth and development.

The learning doesn't stop there! Through conversations about farming, food sources, and working together, children also build communication and social skills while expanding their understanding of the world around them.

What makes this activity even more special is that our Providers from across Ontario have embraced it in their programs, including our Providers in Windsor, Guelph, and Kanata. It's a wonderful example of how our Providers share ideas and inspire learning experiences that engage children through play.

What You'll Need:
• Rubber gloves
• Printed picture of a cow
• Plastic table, chair, or stool
• Clear bucket or container
• Tape
• Water

Thank you to Ramapraba for creating and sharing this fun and engaging activity for us to include in our 2026 Together Wee Can Program! And thank you to our Providers for sending in your photos and videos!

It's Family FAQ Friday! ⚽🍁

With the FIFA World Cup excitement building, we thought we'd answer a question many families may be wondering:

What can children learn from soccer?

The answer is: so much more than you might think! Through soccer and sports-themed activities, children develop coordination, teamwork, communication skills, confidence, perseverance, and an understanding of fair play. Major events like the FIFA World Cup also provide opportunities to explore geography, culture, and community in fun and age-appropriate ways.

As families across Canada cheer on Team Canada, children can join in the excitement by learning valuable life skills through active play and teamwork.

A special thank you to our Providers Tanya (Sarnia), Sahar (Mississauga), Faranak (Aurora) and Norma (Whitby) for sending in your World Cup celebration activities, photos and videos!

Invite children to paint plastic plates, containers, toy dishes, or other washable items. Once they're finished creating their masterpieces, it's time for the next activity - washing everything clean! Then, if they're still having fun, they can start all over again.

This simple outdoor activity encourages creativity, imaginative play, fine motor development, and independence as children paint, scrub, rinse, and repeat.

The best part? You don't need expensive toys or elaborate setups. Some of the most engaging learning experiences come from everyday items and a little imagination. Keeping activities simple often leads to the biggest discoveries, longest play sessions, and most meaningful learning opportunities.

A big thank you to our Provider Farzana in Windsor for sharing this wonderful spring and summer activity with us. We love seeing creative, low-cost ideas that get children outdoors, engaged, and having fun!

Talk about getting into the FIFA World Cup spirit!

Our Provider Faranak in Aurora and her wee ones put their creativity to work by building their very own mini soccer pitch using recyclable materials. This hands-on project was a fantastic way to celebrate the excitement of the tournament while encouraging teamwork, imagination, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

We love seeing how our Providers bring major events and children's interests into their programs, creating meaningful learning experiences through play. From crafting the field to setting up the game, these little soccer fans were fully immersed in the World Cup excitement!

Now it's your turn! Sound off in the comments below! Which match are you most looking forward to, or how are you celebrating the FIFA World Cup in your home or community?

What started as a simple pool noodle, tongs and pom pom sensory bin quickly turned into an exciting learning adventure with our fabulous Provider Tanya and her wee ones in Sarnia!

As the children explored the sensory bin, they were strengthening important developmental skills, including fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and action planning. Through hands-on play, they practiced grasping, sorting, and problem-solving while having fun.

Then came a wonderful surprise! After the sensory activity, the wee ones independently transformed the bin into their own science experiment, exploring the concept of "Float or Sink." What an incredible example of curiosity, creativity, and child-led learning in action!

Moments like these remind us that some of the best learning opportunities happen when children are encouraged to follow their interests and explore their ideas - this is why we LOVE learning through play!

There are few common myths about licensed home child that we hear, so we want to take a moment to share the facts...

Wee Watch Licensed Home Child Care is built around purposeful, play-based learning. Children are engaged in hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and the Wee Learn curriculum that supports their development in meaningful ways - not passive screen time.

Children also benefit from consistent daily routines that balance learning, play, meals, rest, and outdoor time. This structure helps create a sense of stability and belonging while still allowing flexibility for each child’s individual needs.

Wee Watch Providers are supported through ongoing, unscheduled Home Visitor visits, coaching, and regular monitoring to ensure high standards of care, safety, and compliance across all homes.

And importantly, Wee Watch has clear licensing policies in place that require all adults in a Provider's home to be identified, screened, approved, and monitored as part of our commitment to safe, regulated child care.

Licensed home child care combines the warmth of a home environment with the oversight, structure, and accountability families can rely on. Get the answers to your questions by visiting our website and connecting with the location nearest you weewatch.com
