Cambridge Academy Private Secondary School - Markham

Cambridge Academy Private Secondary School - Markham Cambridge Academy is an independent private secondary school, established in 2000, and located in the heart of Markham.

We offer an alternative to the overcrowded and inflexible public and separate school systems. We are an independent, Ministry-inspected private secondary school with over 17 successful years of student achievement in the Markham area. Offering an innovative alternative to public education with the help of a qualified teaching staff, our school provides students with a unique learning atmosphere by combining a challenging, yet motivating curriculum in an intimate setting. We offer highly structured, yet flexible classes with great emphasis on the student-teacher relationship. We realized that there were a number of students whose success was limited in the large system. Cambridge Academy offers high school credit courses for grades 9 through 12 to local as well as international students. We recognize that students come with different abilities and skills that are responded and catered to by a caring and capable staff. We are a non-denominational school, where the foundations of learning such as confidence, skill and achievement are highly valued.

As students progress to high school, guidance counsellors can assist students with academic and school goals. Understanding the pre- requisites, preparing and submitting college and university applications can be a daunting task and the assistance of a guidance counsellor can make all the difference.

Sadly, with such a high ratio of student to guidance counsellor ratio, this can be a struggle!

Guidance counsellors are in extremely short supply in most elementary schools and in many high schools across Ontario, while their role is greatly widening in scope, says a new report by People for Education.
