Appreciation and Memorable Moments with Our Guests

A heartfelt thank you to all our guests, friends, and families who joined us in celebrating the Opening Ceremony of our Summer Art Camp’s Art Show on Saturday, August 23! We were especially touched to be reunited with former students and friends from Macao and Canada, as well as families from Macao and Hong Kong, and long-time parents we’ve known over the years.

Following the ceremony, we hosted an experimental art workshop open to the public, where parents and children (including lots of new visitors) could create together through a series of short, fun projects inspired by our exhibition’s themes—cherishing ourselves and protecting the future of our planet Earth.

The joy on our guests’ faces, and the smiles of parents working side by side with their children, made the day truly unforgettable. It was a celebration not only of art, but of community, creativity, and shared memories.

This summer, Beware Wet Paint Art School co-held with the two organizations from the Macao Federation of Trade Unions (文總及職培) to present the Summer Creative Art Camp. The program was guided by two inspiring themes—“Art Of Me” and “Colour The Future.” Students explored a wide range of creative practices, from traditional art media such as drawing, painting, sculpture, to innovative mixed media techniques. The camp also introduced elements of graphic design such as logo creation and typography, encouraging participants to connect fine art with design thinking.

The Student Exhibition officially opened on Saturday, August 23! The showcase features works created by Macao youth aged 8–15 and 16–20, alongside exchange pieces from our Canadian students aged 13–18, highlighting、 a rich dialogue of artistic expression across cultures.

We sincerely thank all the guests, parents, and friends who joined us at the opening. It was truly inspiring to witness the students’ eloquence and confidence as they presented the concepts behind their works. Their passion and dedication made it clear that this experience was both engaging and deeply rewarding.

Shining for a Proud Moment: Celebrating Scholastic Art & Writing Success:
Educator Award & National Gold Medal Winners!

We’re proud to share that Helena has been honored with the prestigious Educator Award, and Vidonia Zhu (Grade 11) has been named a National Gold Medalist at the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, celebrated at Carnegie Hall in New York on June 11th.

As part of the awards week, both Helena and Vidonia were invited to a series of events, including the national exhibition and award ceremony held at the Scholastic Headquarters in SoHo.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is the largest and most respected scholarship competition for creative teens in North America, with a rich 102-year history. The awards have inspired generations of young artists and writers, counting icons such as Andy Warhol, Stephen King, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, and Ken Burns among its distinguished alumni. Each year, notable former winners are invited as guest speakers. This year’s speakers included Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, fresh off his 2025 Tony Award win for Best Play, and comedian Tracy Morgan, both of whom shared their inspiring journeys.

With over 100,000 participants and more than 310,000 submissions this year, making it from a regional gold winner to a national gold medal is an incredible accomplishment. We are immensely proud of Vidonia’s outstanding achievement and Helena’s recognition for her dedication and mentorship. This is truly a moment to celebrate!
