🐴 WHY HORSES? 💛

Horses don’t care about the words we say — they respond to what we’re actually communicating.

They notice our body language, energy, confidence, boundaries and consistency. And because their response is immediate and honest, they give us an opportunity to adjust, try again and learn in the moment.

Through horses, we can practice:

💛 Confidence — finding our voice and trusting ourselves
💬 Communication — learning that how we communicate matters
🌿 Emotional awareness — recognizing what we’re feeling and how it affects those around us

The horse isn’t there to judge or correct us.

They simply respond — and that’s where the learning begins.

You just need to show up. 💛

Through connection with horses, EAL helps us explore confidence, communication, boundaries, trust and personal growth — all with our feet on the ground.

🐴 MEET THE HERD: HOOFPICK 💛

Meet Hoofpick — our youngest herd member and quite possibly one of our biggest personalities.

Because Hoofpick is still learning himself, he brings something a little different to our EAL sessions. He reminds us that we don’t have to have everything figured out to learn, grow and connect.

He can be rebellious. He can be stubborn. He likes to test boundaries. And he definitely has his own ideas about how things should go. 😂

But he’s also incredibly lovable, curious and almost always a barn favourite.

And if you happen to have treats — or really, anything — in your pockets?

Consider them his. 🤷‍♀️🐴

Hoofpick teaches us about patience, boundaries, communication and what happens when two strong opinions meet. Sometimes the horse who is still figuring things out alongside us can be one of our greatest teachers. 💛

I went into this summer with one goal: stop trying to create a Disneyland childhood.

No running from activity to activity. No pressure to make every day exciting. We have this beautiful farm, a pool, animals and space to just… be.

I wanted to focus on growing Peace of Heart Equine while the kids spent the summer running a little feral on the farm. 😂 We’d throw in a few beach days and adventures when we felt like it.

And yet, over the last week, I’ve found myself saying, “I’m going to spend the next two weeks actually summering with my kids because I feel bad.”

We only went to the beach four or five times. We haven’t done our annual river float — something we normally do several times every summer.

Cue the mom guilt.

But then I looked back through my camera roll and realized something…

We DID summer.

We just summered differently.

There was swimming. Horses. Animals. Bare feet. Dirt. Camp days. Friends. Laughter. Slow afternoons and simple moments at home.

And the funny part? This is exactly what I intentionally set out to do at the beginning of the summer.

I wanted less running. Less pressure. More time at home enjoying what we already have. And somehow, even after doing exactly that, I convinced myself it wasn’t enough.

Maybe that’s something the horses keep trying to teach me too: meaningful doesn’t have to mean busy. Connection doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the best moments happen when we stop trying so hard to create them.

So why do we do this to ourselves as moms?

Why do we intentionally choose slower and easier… and then feel guilty when we actually get it?

Maybe we don’t need to squeeze two months of summer into the last two weeks.

Maybe easy was the whole point. 🤎
