🍄 Mushroom Foray at Loon Lake! 🌲

Curious about the fungi growing in BC’s forests? Join us for a guided mushroom walk at Loon Lake with an expert myco-guide from Swallow Tail Culinary Adventures!

Participants will meet at the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest front gate before being shuttled to Loon Lake, where we’ll explore the forest and learn how to identify wild mushrooms in their natural habitat.

You’ll also learn about safe, ethical and sustainable harvesting practices and gain the skills to help identify your future fungal finds. 🍄🔎

This is a walking and identification tour—not a harvesting or cooking class—so come ready to explore, learn and get curious about the incredible world of fungi!

Build confidence outdoors while learning practical wilderness survival skills, trip planning and preparedness, basic first aid, navigation, and more.

Ready to spread your wings into the world of birding?

Join us for an engaging Birding & Bird Ecology Workshop designed for aspiring and novice birders alike! Start with an online session on June 3 to learn the basics of bird identification, ecology, and conservation, then head into the forest on June 7 for a hands-on field session where you’ll put your new skills into practice.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be working toward confidently identifying 20–30 common bird species while gaining a deeper appreciation for the incredible birds around us.

Light refreshments will be provided during the field session.
