Today, our school came together to recognize Orange Shirt Day and reflect on Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡
While days like today give us an important opportunity to pause, reflect, and remember, the message behind Truth and Reconciliation is about so much more than a single day. It is an ongoing journey that calls on all of us to listen, learn, remember and continue building understanding and respect throughout the year.
We were honoured to welcome Paul Carignan from the Algonquin, Wendat, and Métis people and Cynthia Castonguay from the Métis people, who generously shared their stories, culture, traditions and experiences with our students. Their presence gave our students a meaningful opportunity to learn, ask questions and connect with Indigenous history and culture.
We are incredibly grateful to Paul and Cynthia for sharing their knowledge and helping our students understand the importance of truth, remembrance, respect, and reconciliation.
Today is an opportunity to remember, but the learning and conversation must continue throughout the year.
