The centre aims to guide the children through various experiences in the world and help them develop a knowledge of “why”. The centre will provide an atmosphere of equality in all aspects of development and minimize the differences among the children, removing any stereotypes with regar

ds to gender, race or physical disabilities. The Centre hopes to enable the children to develop positive self-image and social confidence with peers, elders and other family members through play, role-playing and audio-visual aids. However, the Centre also realizes that the primary aspect of being a child is to play and to develop one’s imagination without restraint. Most of all, the Centre would like to provide a place where children can have fun, care safe and feel safe, and where their parents feel comfortable and welcome! Macklin Daycare was incorporated February 19, 2013 as a non-profit organization. It is currently licensed for the care of 31 children ranging in ages from Infant to school aged. On May 15, 2013 we were approved funding in the amount of $84,000.00 from the Ministry of Education, Early Years Branch, to develop a 25-space daycare in Macklin. The Macklin Daycare project was officially born. The Town of Macklin donated the land for the Daycare, and blue prints soon followed. The Daycare is currently able to accommodate 31 spots:
3 infants (6months – 17 months)
5 toddlers (18months – 29months)
16 preschoolers (30 months to 6 years)
4 school age (6 years to 12 years of age)
3 flex spots (to be used for PS or SA). These numbers are what we are licensed for, but there is some flexibility to have more school age children if needed. Staffing in the programs is designed to provide high quality ratios that are set out in Section 51 (4) of the Child Care Regulations, 2001. The Daycare has to meet these ratios as follows: 1:3 ratio for infants, 1:5 ratio for toddlers, a 1:10 ratio for preschoolers and a 1:15 ratio for the School-aged children. These numbers may fluctuate during the day which we will then need to follow the points system set out in Section 51 (5) of the Child Care Regulations, 2001, as the various ages are in and out of the daycare at varying time and for different lengths of time.
