Nzen'man' wants to recognize our wonderful Executive Director Romona Baxter today on her work anniversary! 🐥

While Nzen'man' was founded in 1993 Romona began her journey with the organization on August 6th 1996 - 30 years ago today! Her dedicated care for the wellbeing of our Nation's children and youth has resulted in many amazing things being accomplished. Including our current huge project underway the building of our nest at the future Nzen'man' building site!

Due to a recent fire near Boston Bar, the highway is currently closed. There are many uncertainties, and we want to ensure that families are not stranded with only Highway 5 accessible.

Today we want to highlight an important summer safety tool - Lifejackets! Water activities are a great and healthy way to cool off in the summer months but safety should always be front of mind.

"A lifejacket or PFD is no substitute for adult supervision. Children should be within arm’s reach as well as wearing a proper flotation device at all times. It should fit snugly and not ride up over your child’s chin or ears. There should be less than 7.6 cm (3”) between your child’s shoulders and the device. Otherwise, the device is too big and could do more harm than good." - Transport Canada

Look for these safety features:

☀️Large collar for head support
🌊Waist ties or elastic gathers in front and back
🍉A safety strap that goes between the legs to prevent the device from slipping over your child's head
🚣‍♀️Buckles on safety straps and reflective tape
🛟Consider attaching a non-metallic pea-less whistle to the device.
