Blaine McLeod and Minister of Education, Everett Hindley) along with PVSD Board Vice-Chair Terry Berglund, Board Member for Subdivision 2, Char Sebastian, Director of Education, Cory Popoff attended the ceremony with our Grade 1 students and staff of the school.

This playground initiative came to fruition from the fundraising and grant-writing efforts of our SCC, with special shout-out to Leah Hermanson! They took the idea to our amazing community partners who immediately wanted to get on board with the project. We are so grateful to the Lions, the town and the RM for their significant monetary support! All three partners stepped up with $17500 dollars, and the provincial Playground Grant was approved for $40000!

With these funds, École Lumsden Elementary was able to add a significant structure to our front playground. As Mr. Brown stated, this was such a great example of what can happen when school and community work toward a shared goal. This space is already buzzing, being enjoyed by our students as well as the larger community from sunrise to sunset every day! We look forward to years of recreation.
