Summer time is coming! What a great, relaxing time to try something new?

Registration is now open for an 8-week session of this group music class, designed specifically for students ages 3-5! This class is designed to be a positive, creative, and exploratory first introduction to music for kids 3-5 years old in a group setting. The program incorporates piano playing and will provide great preparation for more traditional piano lessons, but it is also beneficial for children who will go on to study other instruments too as they will be exploring pitch, patterns and rhythm.

The 45-minute class will run on Wednesdays at 5:15pm from July 10th to August 28th. Tuition is $150 for the summer, and all materials will be provided. No practice or homework required!

The curriculum was created by Vibrant Music Teaching owner Nicola Cantan, owner of the Colourful Keys Piano Studio in Dublin, Ireland.

Learning an instrument can be really challenging.

It's learning to read a new language, getting your hands and fingers to do different things at the same time, and doing all that with a nice, steady beat. It's hard!

But it's also so incredibly worth it - the confidence, the skills, the brain benefits, and the enjoyment of knowing you've worked hard to achieve something.

This is the newest little message hanging in my studio, reminding students that as long as they keep trying, they keep succeeding ✨️

What's something you overcame by persevering?

My heart is so full! Our studio winter recital this afternoon was full of amazing music and brave students getting up to play!

For many years of teaching, I'd never considered that there were other ways to explore and learn outside of the books I'd assigned to students. Any struggles students were experiencing when it came to reading music were dealt with through worksheets, which were... okay. Never super engaging, but the best option I thought I had.

Enter ! My eyes have been opened to the way games can help students learn in fun, engaging ways! I decided soon after discovering Nicola Cantan and her Vibrant Music Teaching community, that it was an investment I wanted to make for my current and future students, and I'm continually glad that I did!

This morning I spent some time putting a couple games together, looking forward to giving them a go with some students this afternoon!
