The 2016 Potato Olympics have been taking place over the past two weeks. Mrs. Gibeault would like to thank the grade 6 class for their creativity and dedication to the success of the games. Members of all of the committees - engineers, paramedics, public relations officers, event coordinators, equipment managers, scorekeepers - were amazing! The individual medals and Olympic trophy will be awarded Friday at our closing ceremonies.

Congratulations to Ella Ha who was the finalist in “Caring is Cool” category of the Cogeco Youth Achievement Awards hosted June 6!!! Cogeco TV will be airing the Youth Achievement Awards show June 7th at 7:30 p.m. A special thanks is extended to the Optimist club for sponsoring this wonderful event.

Ella Ha, a grade 6 student from St. George Catholic School in Long Sault was nominated by our school for the Caring is Cool category of the Cogeco Youth Achievement Awards. Over the past few years, Ella has been creating hand-made greeting cards and selling them to friends and family, and at school events. All of her funds have gone directly to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Her goal was to raise $1000 over the course of two years. In December, she presented a cheque to CHEO for the $1200 that she had raised in just one season! The St. George school community, and her family, are very proud of Ella’s initiative and of her generous heart. Congratulations!

Stuff the bus – Corus Feeds Kids | Agape Centre Cornwall 06/07/2016

St. George houses of Gratitude, Peace, and Belief, have taken up the “Charge” to support the “Stuff the Bus – Chorus Feeds Kids”. All food items collected here at St. George will be dropped of this Friday, June 10, 2016. Thank you for your support.

Help us stuff this bus with food!

Fresh Radio 104.5 and Boom 101.9 are partnering with Cornwall Transit to host a food drive for us on Friday, June 10th. The bus will be parked in front of City Hall (360 Pitt Street) from 6 am to 7 pm.

We want to stuff every seat, cover every window, and block the emergency exit – so grab some non-perishable food and help us out!

The Agape Centre serves more than 1000 hungry people a month. Non-perishable and fresh food are greatly appreciated but items that are especially needed are rice, pasta and peanut butter. Please check the expiry dates on all your donations.

Kudos to Dylan Hunter and Mrs. Gibeault who both participated in the Ottawa Mud Hero race this past Saturday. The kids run is a 1km trail run with 6 obstacles, and the the main event is 6km with 20 obstacles - both with LOTS of mud! You two clean up well! Way to go!
