7. MAXIMUM TOUCHES
Are the drills designed to incorporate maximum touches? i.e. dribbles, passes, shots
In a group setting, are there long lines (i.e. waiting) which minimize touches?
Are the participants constantly dribbling & shooting the ball?

8. ASSESSMENTS/REPORT CARDS
Does the trainer provide periodic WRITTEN assessments which include, strengths and areas for
improvement?

9. AGE & NUMBER OF PARTIPANTS
Do the drills match the age and skill level of the participants?
In a group setting, is the age and skill level at a similar level?
This is particularly important for competitive drills.

10. GIMMICS
Trainers should prepare players for game conditions.
Drills involving multiple dribble moves, 3+, are NOT relevant to real game conditions.

4. DECISIONS

If live defenders are incorporated (or token Coach), drills should include decision making where players are required to make reads.

‘Advantage’ drills should also be used to make game decisions (i.e. 2v1 +1 where 1 defender is added late in the drill).

‘Decision’ making drills should be loaded where they begin with a larger advantage (i.e. more time, more space, better numerical advantage) and progressively get more challenging.

5. LENGTH OF DRILLS

Is the duration of drills 3-5 minutes each?

In that time, are the drills varied/loaded to add new components and challenges to the drill?

6. NUMBER OF PARTICPANTS

Do the overall numbers allow for maximum feedback throughout the session?

With larger numbers, is the trainer circulating to evaluate all participants?

Does the cost reflect the number of participants? i.e. Lower cost with higher participants.

Is there a second trainer/coach/assistant with numbers higher than 5-6 participants?
