Tears of pure joy, pride and a level of gratitude I didn’t even know was possible. ✨
Daddy’s ball game was over. Cohen was hanging with Dad and “the boys” and I took Crew to the car for a feed.
I was sitting in the driver’s seat of my car, scrolling while nursing Crew and looked up to see two boys walking home from ball practice. They had their hats on and were carrying their ball bags and bats and I could just tell they were brothers. Probably about 7 and 9 years old, maybe 8 and 10. Causally sauntering back home, chatting to each other, kicking weeds and doing boy things as they walked next to each other.
It stopped me in my tracks and I couldn’t help but watch.
At first I just thought it was so darn cute and then it hit me. That’s my future. The future I dream of. My boys; playing sports together, choosing to spend time together, enjoying each other’s company, casually strolling home together through the park like it’s the 90’s again.
For context: Justin travelled all over the US while playing collegiate baseball; all on scholarships with D1 schools. He then went on to play professionally! He’s still playing Senior ball today, and is leading that league on a few accounts (Proud, bragging wifey moment). The boys have baseball in their blood. ⚾️
While we’re definitely not forcing anything (just providing opportunity and experiences), it already seems quite clear that the boys are going to love baseball just as much as Daddy. (Cohen loves and knows the game more than any other kid I know and Crew is palming balls like nothing already LOL).
Anyways, that visual brought me directly to my future and then came the tears. I am just so grateful to be their Mama. I feel so blessed that we’ve given them this brotherhood and that they have each other to go through life with.
God knew exactly what he was doing when he blessed us with two boys. My heart is so full and so happy! 🤍🤍
