The School of Purpose

In these days of business AND education it is hard to stay away from screens and AI, however, it is POSDIBLE.

In our school and business operations, AI is never and will never be a part of our day or our research. Students research in books while they practice reading and word searching skills. If reading is still tricky, reading support is given.

Screens are a special occasion and reserved ONLY for educational purposes that demonstrate what we cannot in real life. To be perfectly honest there aren't many reasons why would we play a movie for our students...unless of course it relates to books they are reading so we can compare and contrast books versus movies.

We do not use auto mailers and a human being ALWAYS responds to every inquiry.

This September, cell phones will not be permitted in learning spaces in any form. Instead we are utilizing digital cameras, so pictures of students don't end up in teacher's cellphones.

One thing I can guarantee:
THIS.WILL.NEVER.CHANGE.
Technology is not the end all he all....discovery is.

Our August Purpose Camps were a blast!

Here is a recap of what we got up to with our sewing machines, second hand clothes, fabric, patterns and a whole week!

Sewing skills, by hand and with a machine are vital skills that we teach throughout the year to interested students. Sewing brings about an opportunity to see into the way a child thinks, follows steps, reads plans and deals with set backs. Their result is that they have either created something from nothing, or they have changed one thing into something else. Many of our interested students over the years have taken up the practice of fixing clothes and rips and tears. It is empowering for children to learn they have the capacity to create something. Sewing makes their creations huggable ❤

The last date to register for summer purpose camps is July 31st, 2026.

These camps are referred to as "purpose camps" because each camp is project based with a theme for the week.

***Come to cooking camp and leave with some gluten free sourdough bread and starter and be the foodie you know you are! We will be snacking!

***Come to sewing camp and leave with your completed Halloween costume OR your back to school outfit and more!

***Come to survival camp to learn how to be skillful, effective and safe in the outdoors!

***Come to theatre camp to express yourself with spoken word, song and dance and end with putting on a show for your family!

Why?

We are over the moon excited to be transforming our school space into a play scape that supports learning with structured and unstructured imaginative play! The little people inside the adults educating for September are geeking out on all the possibilities.

Based on student interests, we get to create the following play scapes:

TSOP Health Centre - where students step into roles freestyle, with guidance and specific when age appropriate. We will explore the energy in our bodies, physiology, brain science and learn the basics of survival first aid and general health care 💫

TSOP Car Centre - where students will learn about problem solving, observation, hands on use of tools, creation and development of moving things using simple tools and science, and extending into our parking lot for some real hands on how to classes to learn how to change a tire and provide basic vehicle maintenance 💫

TSOP Grocery - where students accept roles, sell products, visit when they need to and purchase all the food they ever needed 💫

TSOP Mercantile - where students access our resource room for all the materials they could ever want for projects, creation, reading and research 💫

TSOP Welcome Centre - our outdoor community map where students get to play and learn map skills like reading, creating and following them to discover local treasures through magical adventures 💫

TSOP Restaurant - our indoor and outdoor kitchens where students create their own recipes with their imagination in preparation for food magic studies, feast planning & creation with sets students up for success with creating in our full service kitchen 💫

Play can show us where our passions are and how to follow them, which can literally lead us anywhere ⚡
