Assalamu Alaykum Dear Parents and Guardians of LIS Main Campus,

We want to inform you that our school will be observing Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. This important day is recognized across Canada to honour the survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impact of these schools on Indigenous communities.

Orange Shirt Day is a time for all Canadians to acknowledge the truth of our history and to take meaningful steps toward reconciliation. By engaging in learning and reflection, our students gain a deeper understanding of the importance of respect, empathy, and unity in building a better future for everyone.

To mark this day, our school will hold a special Orange Shirt Day Assembly, led by our Grade 8 students. The assembly will take place in the gym from 11:05 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

We warmly invite all parents and guardians to join us for this meaningful event. Your presence will not only support the students as they lead the program but will also show the importance of learning and remembering together as a community.

We encourage everyone to wear orange on this day as a symbol of remembrance and our shared commitment to truth and reconciliation.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow into compassionate, responsible, and informed members of society. We look forward to seeing you at the assembly, in shaa Allah.

This is a friendly reminder that Photo Day will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Please ensure that your child:
Is dressed in their school uniform (school uniform top with beige or navy blue pants)
Arrives to school on time.
Students will be photographed with their class, so it is important that everyone arrives promptly.

All students will be photographed. If you do not wish for your child to be included in the photos, kindly inform the appropriate teacher and notify the office in advance.
