Happy Pride Month! Check out the link below for all the great upcoming events!

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 Celebrate Pride 2026 at Western by joining events that honour and support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Pride is a time to celebrate, reflect, uplift and act — and it's for everyone.

Throughout June and July, University College Tower, Brescia Tower, and Alumni Hall will glow in rainbow lights. ✨🌈 The Progress Pride Flag — which honours the full spectrum of the community, including the feathered chevron that recognizes Two-Spirit people — is raised at Concrete Beach. Flying it during National Indigenous History Month highlights the unique presence and significance of Indigenous identities within this celebration.

A renewed partnership between Birds Canada and Western University's Centre for Animals on the Move will ensure that migration science research that is having an impact nationally and internationally will continue.

It will help gather data about where birds, bats and other migratory species travel, when they move and how human development affects them.

And it creates new opportunities for collaborative research, student training, technological innovation and major funding partnerships. More: https://news.westernu.ca/2026/05/birds-canada/

This Earth Day, we’re celebrating graduates who are shaping a more just and sustainable future. 🌎

Meet Ashwini Selvakumaran, MES’24, a passionate advocate for climate justice and equity. From her time in Western’s Master of Environment and Sustainability program to representing Canada at the Youth 20 Summit in South Africa, Ashwini has been working to ensure diverse voices are heard in global conversations on climate action and social change.

“I’ve always been interested in systems, but more importantly, how to change them.” Through MES, Ashwini deepened her understanding of how environmental challenges intersect with equity, asking critical questions about access to clean air, water, and green space, and who is most impacted.

Now, she’s helping bring youth perspectives to the global stage, because meaningful change starts with inclusive voices at the table.

Ready to make your impact? Applications for the Master of Environment and Sustainability program close May 1 for domestic students.
