We’re excited to announce that registration packages are now available at the KNS Martial Arts front desk for the 40th Anniversary Shorinjiryu Shinzen Shiai!

We received a message from a Senpai parent this week that we keep coming back to.

Her son is 13. He came to us two years ago struggling in school — distracted, frustrated, not believing in himself much. She wasn't sure karate was "his thing."

This is part of what she wrote:

"He talks about his belt test at dinner. He helps younger kids at the dojo without anyone asking him to. His teachers are noticing a difference. But more than anything — he's proud of himself. That's new."

We know parents are busy. We know you're weighing every activity against the others. We know it's a leap to try something new.

But this is what happens on the mat, week after week. Kids learn to fail with grace, try again with grit, and grow in ways that reach every corner of their lives.

MEDALS EARNED. 🏅🥋

These students stepped onto the mat, competed with heart, and walked away with hardware. But honestly? The real win is what it took to get here — every early class, every rep, every time they pushed through when it was tough.

Competing builds something that's hard to teach any other way: the ability to perform under pressure, handle results with grace, and come back stronger no matter what. These students have all of that.

Congratulations to every competitor — we couldn't be more proud! 🙌
