Effective responses to intimate partner violence (IPV) begin with a strong foundation. This course equips service providers with the knowledge and practical approaches needed to recognize, respond to, and support those impacted by IPV using trauma- and violence-informed, culturally responsive, and decolonizing practices.

We're proud to celebrate recent articles by our Acting Director, Kaitlynn Mendes, and Research Assistant and PhD student, Kaya Anderson published in The Conversation.

The article, which Kaitlynn co-authors, ‘Most Canadian teens have seen graphic violence online, and algorithms — not searches — are to blame’ explores how social media algorithms expose youth to graphic and violent content, often without their active participation or consent.

In ‘My grandfather kept his rejected degree for 50 years. Decades later, Canada still deskills immigrants’ Kaya reflects on her grandfather’s experience immigrating from the Philippines to Canada. It highlights the ongoing systemic barriers that prevent many newcomers from having their knowledge, skills and contributions fully recognized.

These contributions reflect CREVAWC's commitment to advancing research that challenges violence, inequity, and oppression in all their forms and promotes a more just and inclusive society.

Workplace harassment and violence continue to impact workers across Canada, with those holding marginalized identities experiencing disproportionately higher rates of harm.

Earlier this year, CREVAWC released Is Work Safer? The Second National Survey on Harassment and Violence at Work in Canada, a landmark report led by our Respect at Work Lead, Dr. Adriana Berlingieri.

The findings reveal that harassment and violence remain persistent workplace issues and highlight the urgent need for safer, more equitable, and more inclusive work environments. We are pleased to see this important research featured by Western News, helping to amplify the experiences of workers and advance conversations about prevention and change.

At CREVAWC, we remain committed to producing research that informs action and supports efforts to prevent gender-based violence in all spaces—including workplaces.
