🌈✨ Wrapping Up a Wonderful Year of Learning & Growth ✨🌈 As we begin wrapping up our school year, the children have been busy completing their end-of-year recap worksheets, reviewing colours, shapes, numbers, alphabet recognition, tracing, and colouring skills. It has been so special to sit back, reflect, and watch the children work this week. Looking through their work and seeing how much they have grown, learned, and accomplished over the past year fills me with so much pride. The progress they have made is truly incredible. For our senior preschool friend, this marks the end of an important chapter as they prepare to move on to Kindergarten this fall. I am so proud of each and every one of you. Your future teachers are incredibly lucky to have such kind, curious, capable, and wonderful children joining their classrooms. Watching you grow through the years has been a privilege I will always treasure. Our younger friends in the infant, toddler and Jr. Preschool program have also had an amazing year. From first words and first steps to growing independence, confidence, friendships, and new skills, they have reached so many important milestones and continue to amaze me every day. 📚🌈 End-of-Year Review Time at Penny Lane Childcare & Early Learning 🌈📚 This week, we are kicking off our end-of-year reviews and assessments! Throughout the year, we have explored so many exciting monthly themes and learning experiences during circle time, work time, creative activities, outdoor exploration, and everyday play. Now it’s time to look back and celebrate just how much our little learners have grown. During individual work time, I sit down one-on-one with each child to review the concepts we have learned throughout the year. Together, we revisit colours, shapes, numbers, letters, seasons, emotions, body parts, and so much more. These reviews help me see what information children have retained, identify areas of strength, and determine goals to continue supporting their learning journey next year. This process also helps me complete developmental assessments and prepare end-of-year report cards that will be shared with families at the end of June. I truly love this time of year. It is such a rewarding and emotional experience to see how much the children have grown, developed, and reached important milestones. The confidence, independence, knowledge, friendships, and skills they have gained over the year are something to be incredibly proud of. There are so many accomplishments to celebrate, and I cannot wait to share each child’s progress with their families. ❤️ ✨ Love. Shine. 🔢🐸 Today at Penny Lane, we continued exploring numbers, counting, and number recognition through hands-on play-based learning! Today’s activity involved a fun number balance scale game. On one side, the children placed a number, and on the other side, they counted out the matching quantity of frogs. When the number matched the correct quantity, the scale balanced perfectly — helping the children visually understand that the number and quantity were equal. When the quantities didn’t match, the scale would tip, allowing the children to see and explore the concepts of more, less, equal, counting accuracy, and quantity comparison in a meaningful and engaging way. The children had so much fun testing their predictions, counting carefully, and watching the scale move as they problem-solved together! 🐸⚖️ ✨ Learning Outcomes: • Number recognition • Counting with one-to-one correspondence • Understanding quantity and value • Comparing more vs. less • Early problem-solving and critical thinking • Fine motor development • Turn-taking and cooperative learning • Building confidence with early math concepts Learning through play makes math meaningful, exciting, and memorable! 💚

this week at Penny Lane, we turned numbers into hands-on learning, creativity, and fun! 🔢🌈 The children explored number recognition, counting quantities, tracing, and one-to-one correspondence through interactive number worksheets and colouring activities. As we worked through numbers 1–20, the children practiced identifying numerals, counting objects carefully, and strengthening their pencil grip and fine motor skills through tracing. ✏️🖍️ What may look like “just colouring” is actually early math learning in action. Through playful activities like these, children are building foundational skills for kindergarten readiness — including number awareness, concentration, visual discrimination, hand-eye coordination, and confidence with early numeracy concepts. One of my favourite moments today was watching the children proudly count each picture aloud while checking their work independently.
