Join the HELP Lab May 16th 11-2:30PM EST for our virtual workshop on the ethical considerations surrounding medical decision-making for children at the Canadian Bioethics Society Workshop and Community Forum. Register now (registration required) for this must-attend event with interactive case-based modules in rehabilitation, acute care, and public health, followed by an expert panel of legal minds and bioethicists. Presented by Western graduate students Zoe Ritchie, Micaela Forte, and Lacy Soparlo, with contributions from Dr. Jacob Shelley and Dr. Maxwell Smith.

Siddarth-Kamal-Kumar, an actor by day, engineer by night. His credits include Never Swim Alone, The 39 Steps, Where Have All The Lightning Bugs Gone, A Midsummer’s Night Dream & Romeo and Juliet, Exam Day and When I Break. He has simultaneously pursued a mechanical engineering degree, worked as a researcher at the Human Performance Lab University of Calgary, as a designer at the Neurorehabilitation Lab (Waterloo) and maintained a career as a Manufacturing Design Engineer at Apple Inc. in California. He runs his own YouTube channel where he explores his ideas about life skills, adventures he goes on and what he’s learning as gets older.

Noam Raiter is a final year medical student at McMaster University with current research and career endeavours focusing on wellness and holistic health. Further, she is also a wellness and lifestyle content creator across social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Her platform is further expanded as the host of the “You Are Not Too Busy” Podcast and the Founder of the charitable clothing line “Inclusive Health Collection.” Noam strives to promote leading a balanced and healthy lifestyle and break down the social media “highlight reel” to promote candid and inspiring conversations.

Morgan McSweeney, PhD is a scientist and medical communicator who works on the development of antibody-based therapeutics for respiratory diseases. He also creates educational videos on TikTok and Instagram covering topics across science, health, and COVID-19 and has been featured by the The New York Times, World Economic Forum, Time Magazine, NBC, Fox, and others.

Deidre Tansey is a “curator of connection” who demystifies digital pathways & ensures entrepreneurs are in alignment with their online persona. She has a Bachelor of Education with a focus in both Fine Arts and Literature, has owned several businesses in the creative arena while raising her six children in Northern British Columbia. After relocating to Vancouver Island she went back to study marketing and business and created her own Digital Marketing Agency. After several years of working with a host of incredible businesses on their social strategy, she forayed into public service and was the first Digital Marketing Specialist for Vancouver Island Regional Library responsible for creating an online presence for their 39 branches and training staff how to effectively use digital media.

Should post-secondary schools mandate vaccines for on-campus learning? With a new school year quickly approaching and COVID-19 case numbers going up across Canada, some are beginning to ask whether post-secondary institutions should require staff and students to be vaccinated if they want to learn on campus.

Keith Retson-Spalding has 40 plus years of experience in the entertainment business starting as in classical professional choir and performing at venues such as Massey Hall and for the Royal Family at Westminster Abbey. He has also worked with the National Ballet School. Upon shifting his focus to Rock 'N Roll, Keith toured for 15 years with "Click," one of Canada's most successful cover bands. Keith left the road in the mid 90's and began his career as a sound and lighting technician with the Royal Alberta Museum, one of Edmonton's best mid-size theatres. He returned to live performing with the opening of The Red Piano in West Edmonton Mall, where he was the Entertainment and Production Manager as well as a featured performed for the entire 8 year run. Keith has performed as the character of Sir Elton John in the dinner theatre production "Two Good Knights." Keith is a partner in Titan Sound, a local recording studio and in collaboration with his partner, David Pedovar (Dave and the Titans) he has seen his original songs placed on popular American TV and Hollywood movie soundtracks (“Hot Rod” featuring Andy Samberg (SNL /Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Most recently , Keith had been performing on Cruise ships, starting in 2016 on contracts with Holland America Line, Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, spending over 360 days at sea. He was poised to continue until Covid sent him home in the middle of March 2020. Keith is currently in a partnership with a local Edmonton music school and retail facility assisting with their audio recording, video and streaming business, as well as their live production and staging.

Rebecca Zandbergen has worked for CBC for 20 years and is currently the host of London Morning on 93.5 FM. Rebecca grew up in rural Ontario and spent many years in Ottawa, graduating from Carleton University's journalism program. She also spent three years at the CBC there, hosting, news reading and reporting. Rebecca has worked in CBC stations all over the country including Kelowna, Halifax, Iqaluit and Whitehorse. She also teaches journalism - most recently at Carleton University. Rebecca has also taught at the National University in Rwanda and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa. She's also filed radio documentaries from Rwanda and South Africa.

He is a regular panelist on CTV’s Alberta PrimeTime, discussing current local events. He also has been in church ministry for over 15 years with a BA in Biblical Studies and a Masters in Theology.

Andrew Perrott, a defenseman with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL, has been playing hockey since the age of 3 and aspires to play in the NHL. A part-time student in the BMOS program at Western University, Andrew effectively balances his rigorous hockey schedule and his academics. During the season-long pause in Ontario Hockey League play as a result of Covid-19, Andrew recognized a need for OHL players to be able to showcase their talents to NHL and professional scouts and organized the very successful PBHH Showcase which took place in Erie, PA from June 1-14th.

Alex Kopacz was born and raised in London, ON and played a wide variety of sports growing up. He is an Olympic gold medalist in two man bobsled, a title he earned in 2018 at the PyeongChang Olympics. After sport and rebounding from numerous surgeries he decided to dive into the entrepreneur space and founded Step Sciences. Alex enjoys speaking engagements and coaching whenever he can. He is a graduate of Western University in Mechanical Engineering and Physics.
