This short 1953 documentary from the National Film Board’s up-to-the-minute report of “what’s happening somewhere in Canada” shows a cool clip from what life was like aboard a DC6 from Vancouver to Tokyo.

What’s interesting is the actual route of flight CP401/403 was: EZE-LIM-MEX-YVR-HND-HKG.

The YVR-Tokyo leg in the video wasn’t possible in the DC6 so a fuel/tech stop in Cold Bay Alaska was required. Enjoy!

It is awesome to see the return of General Aviation Safety Seminars provided by Transport Canada. These are a great way to share ideas, and gain insight into industry best practices, and improve your flight knowledge.

Remember the often overlooked CAR 401.05 part (2a) requirements, and that in order to operate an Aircraft you must:

a) successfully complete a recurrent training program within the prior 24 months

This 2 hour seminar is a great informative way to complete this requirement, and provides a different insight into aviation when compared to completing the normal flight training / examination environment.
