Norway. A room full of students who travelled from every corner of the world to learn, and instructors who gave everything to teach them.

Huge thanks to Jim, Rachel, Hannah and Stuart for leading this Masterclass with such skill and heart. And to every student who packed a bag and got on a plane to be here β€” this is what dedication to the profession looks like.

Hands learning. Techniques being practiced. And in between it all, the quiet moments that remind you why this work matters.

Thank you for hosting this amazing experience

A State-Based Model for Interpretation and Treatment Sequencing in Equine Osteopathy

By Jessica Hudson

Not every stiff horse needs the same fix.

A shortened stride. Reduced bending. A braced neck. They can look like the exact same problem, but they're often not. Jessica Hudson's graduate research for LCAO digs into three very different states that can hide behind identical signs: genuine mechanical restriction, compensatory adaptation covering for weakness elsewhere, or protective guarding the horse is using to manage pain, instability, or heavy task demand.

Treat a protective pattern as if it were mechanical, and the horse may resist manual input altogether, tolerate it without lasting change, or improve briefly in the session only for the same restriction to resurface once it's back in ridden work.

Hudson's state-based model draws on equine biomechanics, rehabilitation science, manual therapy, fascia research, pain science, and motor control literature to reorganize clinical reasoning around function rather than location. Instead of asking only where a horse is restricted, practitioners are guided to ask what role that restriction is playing, and whether the horse's system needs mobility, support, or regulation first.

No new techniques. No principles set aside. Just a clearer way to read what a horse's body is actually asking for.

Is your feed room actually working for your horse, or just working against your wallet?

A $60 hoof supplement, an amino acid product, a vitamin and mineral mix, a fortified feed. They all look like they're doing different jobs. Turn the labels around, though, and you might find the same nutrients showing up two or three times over.

Cost per day matters more than the price on the bag. The forage you know least about is usually the biggest part of the diet. And a supplement that made sense two years ago might not make sense now.

The goal isn't spending less. It's knowing where the money is actually making a difference.

The Saddle Is Part of the Assessment 🐴

Meet the Instructor: Jenn Vereshack

There's a piece of every case most equestrians and therapists are never taught to read. Jenn Vereshack built her career on it β€” starting with Priscilla, her own "hard to fit" horse, and the search that followed through the SaddleFit4Life Equine Ergonomist Program and Masterson Method certification, before completing her training as an equine osteopath at LCAO.

"If form is altered, function will be affected. The reverse is also true." β€” Jenn Vereshack

Saddle Fit: Perfection or Progress?

A horse that trails her hind legs. A dip in front of the withers. A mare who pins her ears at the sight of the saddle. Small signs, easy to miss, until someone points them out.

A perfect fit isn't always within reach β€” but progress usually is. Horses change with age, condition, and the seasons, and so does what "fit" means for them.
