Pop, blow, and talk! 🫧 Playing with bubbles or bubble wrap is a fun way to practice speech sounds. Try saying your child’s target sound each time you blow a bubble or pop one—like /p/ for pop! This turns everyday play into articulation practice that feels like a game. 🎈💬

Reading Dear Zoo? 🦁📦 It’s the perfect time to model core vocabulary! Use your child’s AAC system or core board to show words like OPEN, WANT, LIKE, and LOOK while you read. Point to the symbols as you speak—this helps your child see and hear language together. Every page is a chance to build communication skills! 💬📚

Every letter has 4 forms—and exploring them creates rich, multimodal learning! 🅰️✨
✅ Name (‘A’)
✅ Sound (/a/ like in apple)
✅ Shape (What it looks like)
✅ Formation (How we write it)
Acknowledging these forms means students are seeing it, hearing it, feeling it, and writing it—a powerful way to build literacy skills! Try pointing out all four when reading or writing with your child. 💡📚

Books aren’t just for stories—they’re for feelings too! 📚💬 When we read with our kids, we can help them learn words for emotions like excited, worried, or proud. Naming feelings builds emotional vocabulary and supports communication skills. Try pausing during a story to ask: ‘How do you think the character feels?’ ❤️

Looking for fun ways to practice your child’s speech sound? Grab your Jenga tower, a marker, paper and some tape!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Write words that include your child’s target sound on each Jenga block. Once a block has been removed from the tower, ask your child to repeat the word on the block three times before another player takes a turn!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Swipe to see how we've used both words and picture stickers to practice a target sound. Try it out at home!

Getting ready for the new school year? Focus on some vocabulary as you are packing your backpack!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🎒Make a list of what you need to bring for the first day of school. Think about each item and talk about why it's important and what it might be used for, like, "I'm bringing a hat to protect my face from the sun at recess."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧢 Categorize the items you are packing into groups such as food, clothing and learning tools!

Does your student have a favourite activity? Use that activity to model core words during play.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This approach takes some thoughtful planning, but you will notice an increase in the number of words your student is using during a familiar activity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try it out using blocks or a favourite craft!
